Every state committed to communist ideology considers it its duty to oppose itself to the capitalist West. An alternative value system, a planned economy - and, of course, the destruction of everything capitalist on its territory. Democratic Kampuchea approached this too zealously, leaving aside all doubts and common sense.

It was a strange single-seat aircraft - one of the "X" series ("X" - experimental), a hybrid of a rocket and an airplane, a predecessor of the Space Shuttle - some of the design and material decisions were later used for the shuttle. The history of the X-15 flights is very diverse and amazing in its own way.

The Nazi regime, which came to power in Germany in 1933, from the first days of its existence widely used terror not only against its opponents within the country, but also against ill-wishers in the power structures of other states. One of the first victims was French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou...

Reliably protecting yourself from enemy weapons, covering yourself with strong armor, is the cherished dream of warriors of all times and peoples. The presence of such protection guaranteed victory in bloody battles. Over time, warriors received similar armor - it was chain mail, which became the prototype of modern body armor. It was invented around the middle of the 1st millennium BC. But it is impossible to say for sure who owns the credit for this invention. Most likely, chain mail appeared independently in Europe and Asia. The first finds in Scythian cemeteries date back to the 5th century BC. Etruscan and Celtic examples date back to the 3rd century BC.

The main department store (GUM) was not just a store demonstrating the country's wealth to guests of the capital and foreign visitors, it was a real museum of trade, designed to evoke admiration for its architecture and interior decoration.

This extraordinary journey is now rarely remembered. And no wonder. In the decades that have passed since then, so many amazing journeys have been made, so many heroic adventures have been experienced that, against their background, the feat of Francis Chichester has considerably faded and faded. And at one time, sailing on the yacht “Gypsy Mot” across three oceans literally caused an explosion of admiration throughout the world.

On the twenty-fifth of August, Neil Armstrong, the man who was the first to leave his mark “on the dusty paths of distant planets,” passed away. The astronaut's relatives told reporters that his death occurred three weeks after he underwent heart surgery. The moon explorer was 82 years old.

It is unlikely that any real man would refuse to visit a museum of armored vehicles, especially if it is the British Royal Museum in Bovington. There is no other exhibition like this on our planet.

I have always been interested in the myths of Hellas. I was especially interested in mythical creatures. Here is a list of creatures (half-human, half-animal, some are one of a kind, like the Minotaur and the Gorgon Medusa, although the latter has 2 sisters, but she is the only mortal of them; and whole genera so to speak!)

Let's go alphabetically.

Harpies (A r p u i a i) spirits of the winds, daughters of the sea deity Thaumant and the oceanid Electra (Hes. Theog. 267), archaic pre-Olympic deities. Their number ranges from approximately two to five; their names - Aella ("Whirlwind"), Aellope ("Whirlwind"), Podarga ("Swift-footed"), Okipeta ("Fast"), Kelaino, Keleno ("Gloomy") - indicate a connection with the elements and darkness.

Harpies are depicted as winged wild and predatory mixanthropic creatures - half-women, half-birds of a disgusting appearance, spreading, in addition, a terrifying smell that not everyone can bear. In myths they are represented as evil kidnappers of children and human souls (Greek a r p a z w, “I kidnap”), suddenly swooping in and disappearing as suddenly as the wind. The proximity of the harpies to the winds is reflected in the fact that the divine horses of Achilles were born from Podarga and Zephyr.

Harpies were sent by the gods as punishment for people who had offended them. The monsters took food from a person every time he sat down to eat, and this continued until the person died of hunger.

Gorgons are monstrous creatures of the sea deities Phorcys and Keto, granddaughters of the land of Gaia and the sea of Pontus. Homer mentions only one gorgon, but Hesiod speaks of three sisters: Stheno, Euryale and Medusa. The elders are immortal, the youngest (Medusa) is mortal.

(due to the lack of images of the older sisters, I’m only showing the youngest)

Echidna, Echidna (E k i d n a) monster, half-maiden, half-snake, daughter of Phorcys and Keto, granddaughter of the land of Gaia and the sea of Pontus. Echidna is beautiful in appearance, but terrible in her serpentine essence; lives in a cave underground, far from gods and people.

Echidna gave birth to many monsters from Typhon and Geryon. This is the dog Orph, Cerberus, Lernaean Hydra, Chimera, Sphinx. From her son Orph, Echidna gave birth to the Nemean Lion.

Centaurs (K e n t a u r o i) are wild creatures, half-human, half-horse, mortal inhabitants of mountains and forest thickets, characterized by a violent temperament and intemperance. Their mixanthropism is explained by the fact that they were born from Ixion and the cloud, which, by the will of Zeus, took the form of Hera, on whom Ixion attempted.

Lamia is a monster. Lamia was once the lover of Zeus. After the jealous Hera killed Lamia's children, she was forced to take refuge in a cave and turned into a bloody monster that kidnapped and devoured other people's children. Since Hera deprived her of sleep, she wanders at night. Zeus, who took pity on her, granted her the ability to take out her eyes to fall asleep, and only then is she harmless. Lamia were the name given to night ghosts that sucked blood from young men.

Minotaur (M i n w t a u r o z) a human-bull monster named Asterius ("star"), who lived in Crete. Born of Pasiphae (daughter of Helios), wife of King Minos, from a bull sent to Crete by Poseidon, or by Poseidon himself. He was placed in an underground labyrinth built by Daedalus, where seven young men and women were sacrificed to him (annually or once every few years), sent by the Athenians as a tax to Minos and as atonement for the murder of Minos’ son in Attica. The terrible monster then devoured the unfortunate people.

Sirens are demonic creatures, born of the river Achelous and one of the muses, Melpomene, Terpsichore or the daughter of Steropus, who inherited wild spontaneity and an evil disposition from their father, and a divine voice from their mother-muse. Their number ranges from two or three to a whole set. The Sirens once pleased the goddess Demeter.

Sirens are mixanthropic in nature, they were represented as predatory beauties with the head and body of a beautiful woman and with clawed bird feet.

They live on the rocks of the island, strewn with the bones and dried skin of their victims, who are lured by the sirens with a song that drives all living things mad, and then killed.

Sphinx, Sphinga (S j i g z) a monster generated by Typhon and Echidna, with the face and breasts of a woman, the body of a lion and the wings of a bird.

Sent by Hero to Thebes as punishment for the seduction of young Chrysippus by Laius, the Sphinx settled on a mountain near Thebes (or in the city square) and asked everyone who passed by the question: “Which living creature walks on four legs in the morning, not two in the afternoon, but on three in the evening?” ?". The Sphinx killed the one who was unable to give a solution and thus killed many noble Thebans, including the son of King Creon. Creon, overcome with grief, announced that he would give the kingdom and the hand of his sister Jocasta to the one who would save Thebes from the monster. Oedipus solved the riddle; the Sphinx, in despair, threw herself into the abyss and fell to her death.

Scylla, Scylla (S k u l l h) a sea monster that lay in wait for sailors in a cave on a steep cliff of the narrow Strait of Sicily (on the other side of which lived another monster, Charybdis). Only Odysseus and the Argonauts managed to sail past Scylla and Charybdis.

Scylla has six dog heads on six necks, three rows of teeth and twelve legs. She is the daughter of the sea deity Phorcys or Krateis (according to other sources, Hecate or Echidna).

According to Ovid, Scylla is mixanthropic: she has a woman’s face and a body girded with dogs. Once a beautiful nymph, she rejected all the suitors and the sea god Glaucus, who was in love with her, who asked for help from the sorceress Kirka. But Kirk, who was in love with Glaucus, turned Scylla into a monster out of revenge on him.

Empusa, Empusa (E m p o u s a) monster, female demon from Hecate’s entourage. At night, when the moon rises, Hecate, the goddess of dark forces, three-faced and snake-haired, appears on the surface of the earth. with two flaming torches in his hands. They race in a chariot drawn by black dogs, accompanied by monsters of the underworld and their constant companion Empusa, frightening belated travelers.

It was believed that Empusa kidnapped children and young men, strangled her lovers in her arms, and then drank their blood and devoured her victims. The horse-footed Empusa is capable of changing its appearance; it captivates victims, taking the form of either a beautiful maiden or a terrible ghost.

Her face glows with heat, she has donkey legs and one of them is copper.

(only for some reason the legs are not like donkeys)

RATM Guitarist Reveals Why The Late MOTÖRHEAD Leader Was An 'Immeasurably Cool Dude'

On Monday, following news of MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello posted on Facebook the following message: "Metal flags around the world fly at half-staff today as we salute the incomparable Ace of Spades." Now the musician has shared his thoughts about the late MOTÖRHEAD leader with the magazine Rolling Stone:

He was real all the time. It is impossible to overestimate the degree of his sincerity. There are plenty of guys who arm themselves with skulls and crossbones, but I think Lemmy was sort of the brigadier general of the mythical army of heavy metal skeletons on Harleys.

It came from within. He was real. He was among those who loved heavy metal and punk equally. He and his team straddled both genres and earned endless respect. It can be said that MOTÖRHEAD rightly enjoyed the same love and fame as the SEX PISTOLS in their time. Everyone admired this band, and everyone could only hope that their own band - no matter garage or stadium - would receive at least a fraction of this trust and fantasticness, which seemed to cost no effort from MOTÖRHEAD. They didn't even bother.

I first learned about MOTÖRHEAD thanks to the “Killed by Death” video on the channel MTV, which was the pinnacle of hair metal buffoonery. They weren't trying to look like punk rockers. This was much better. They sounded much rawer than all those clown bands. It was also uncompromising metal.

I remembered not only the bass guitar, but Lemmy's entire artistic style. His bass is firm Rickenbacker sounded like ten guitars and basses playing simultaneously through a wall of amplifiers Marshall. From the tone of his voice to his positioning at the microphone, he was unique. No one looked like that at the microphone stand. The bent microphone made him look like an immeasurably cool dude.

Watch [documentary about the '86-88 Los Angeles scene] "The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years": Lemmy was the only person who made sense in this damn party. He was a whole head above as a songwriter in the genre. Real Gandalf in leather with stack Marshall.

He played great music until the very end.

We should all hope for at least a hundredth of the love and admiration with which Lemmy is remembered today. Another empty chair appeared at the bar Rainbow Bar and Grill, which will be very, very difficult to fill. I feel tremors all over the world. There are a ton of words that could be used to describe Lemmy, but I would like to say that he was “irreplaceable.” They completely pulled the rug out from under their feet when they invented this punk metal hero for all times - half man, half wolf and half god.

There are no such people anymore. This is a very, very sad time.

Currently, one of the most discussed mythical creatures are werewolves - half-humans, half-beasts. The meaning of this word comes from the old English term Wer-Wulf, which means “wolf-man.” According to legend, these creatures have incredible strength, agility, speed, night vision and, most importantly, sexual attractiveness.

In various versions of folklore, a werewolf is considered to be a sorcerer who has taken the form of an animal to harm people or a person who has become the object of curses. Much modern literature and film states that a werewolf is vulnerable while in human form. However, under the influence of the full moon, he changes his appearance and then only a silver bullet can kill him. Stories about werewolves abound in the cultures of many European countries, from Russia to England and from Norway to Italy. According to their data, an ordinary person can become half-wolf in various ways, but the most common reason is considered to be a bite or wound inflicted by an animal.

Photos and pictures of werewolves:

An interesting fact is that while most people no longer believe in the existence of werewolves, there is a medically known condition called clinical lycanthropy. It is characterized by the fact that the patient sees himself as a werewolf and behaves accordingly.

There is a well-known folk sign: “A mole in such a place that you can see it for yourself is for worse, but not visible is for good.” Perhaps it was this folk wisdom that served as the basis for a mole to appear in your dream.

Or maybe a mole appeared in a dream because in real life you were thinking about the symbolic meaning of each mole, because it’s not without reason that people say: “The more moles, the more unhappy and sick a person is” or “A mole on the nose means heart disease.” , “A mole on the back means pneumonia.”

A mole may appear in your dream because in reality you met your relatives.

Looking at a large mole on your body in a dream is a sign that you have a very influential and wealthy relative who is ready to come to your aid at any moment.

If you dreamed that you had moles all over your body, then such a dream is a bad omen. You are facing a misfortune from which you will not be able to recover for a long time.

Perhaps such a dream indicates that you have many relatives with whom you should not forget to maintain relationships.

If you remove a mole from your body medically in a dream, then in real life you will be able to avoid the danger that threatens you and the evil gossip of your ill-wishers.

If you remove a mole yourself, then such a dream suggests that in reality you are only helping to ensure that circumstances are not in your favor and are giving food for gossip to your enemies.

If you dreamed that you had a large mole on your forehead, then in real life you will experience a deterioration in your health. You may get an infection from which you will not be able to recover for a long time. Be careful when communicating with unfamiliar people.

Looking for moles on your body in a dream and not finding them is a sign that you yourself are to blame for the cool attitude of your relatives towards you. If you do not change your behavior, you will soon be left completely alone.

If you accidentally pick off a mole in a dream, then you will soon receive unpleasant news from your relatives, which will cause your attitude towards them to noticeably worsen.

Watching how moles grow on your body before your eyes is evidence that in real life many people would like to make friends, and maybe even become related to you. Be careful in choosing your friends!

Dream Interpretation - Childbirth

The process of childbirth seen in a dream can have the following meanings: if you see yourself being born, this marks the emergence of new knowledge, you will appear before others in a new quality. If someone else is born, someone new will appear in your life. Depending on what feelings you experience, this person will be pleasant or unpleasant to you.

The process of childbirth for a woman, dreamed of by a man, means profit, property acquisitions, monetary savings, prosperity, everything good, and success will be easy, literally falling on your head from the sky.

If a man sees himself giving birth, such a dream is a sign that you will have to make a lot of effort in order to achieve the desired success. You have to work hard and hope for a successful outcome.

For a woman, a dream about childbirth means either monetary gain, or is a sign of an impending disease of the gastrointestinal tract or genitourinary system. The latter interpretation should be paid attention primarily to older women.

For a girl, a dream about childbirth means good prospects for marriage, well-being in future family life and prosperity in the home.

By the way, over the past two decades, underwater births have been actively promoted. Scientists say that immersing a newborn in water guarantees good physical and mental health in the future. However, the interpretation of a dream about childbirth does not at all depend on the situation in which a new life was born in your dream.
