Standard games for Windows 8. Standard games for Windows. Screenshots of Win7Games

30.05.2014

Good day! I switched to Windows 8 (and then to Windows 8.1) in principle at the time of the official release of this operating system. Although at first it was a little unusual to use the new Start, in general I really liked the operating system. It is much more convenient than the old systems. But I distinctly remember being surprised that Microsoft didn't include standard games from the Vista and Seven operating systems as a novelty. After all, these games were quite popular. Who among us has not played solitaire at work? Or a sapper, who appeared back in XP (if not earlier, I don’t remember already). Of course, the games have not completely disappeared and are now available in the updated UI view in the Store under the names Microsoft Minesweeper (Minesweeper), Microsoft Solitaire Collection (Solitaires: kerchief, spider, solitaire), Microsoft Mahjong (actually Mahjong). They are very easy to find by typing the word Microsoft in the search.

But not everyone likes to use the UI interface of the eighth series of Windows. Well, to be honest, the new "innovative theme" of the sapper is simply terrible. Fortunately, there are good people who have already collected and packaged classic games from Windows 7 for installation in Windows 8 and 8.1 operating systems, moreover, the latest assembly already automatically determines the bitness of your operating system, so now you only need to download this installer. And run it.

After installation, in the list of programs you will see a section with all the classic Microsoft games. And, of course, you can play them.

That's all. I hope this article was useful to you, click one of the buttons below to tell your friends about it.

How to return the standard games?

Many have forgotten about the standard games, but there are still those who remember and love to play the old solitaire and sapper. Unfortunately, they are not installed in new versions of operating systems, but there is a solution that will help you resume and enjoy the legendary creations.

Return of standard games in Windows 8

First way

The emergence of new technologies in the gaming industry affected everyone, and Bill Gates had to adapt Windows to change, which led to a loss of interest in standard games. But still, it is possible to restore your favorite masterpieces. You need to go to the Official App Store, which is installed in every Windows, starting from 7 and above.

There you need to enter the word Microsoft in the search box. After that, you will see the search results: Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Microsoft Minesweeper, Microsoft Mahjong, which you need to download to your PC.

Second way

But all the games are redesigned and fit in the Flat style or whatever the flat style is called. For those who prefer the old design, kind people separated the standard windows games and made a separate file. Thus, they can be installed in the same way as modern ones.

Download standard games for Windows 8

After downloading the installer, run it by clicking on the exe file, and everything is as usual: select the priority language of the game, determine which folder the installation will be in, and wait for the installation to complete.

Next, you can find the installed standard games in the folder you chose for installation, or go to Start Games, and hooray! There will be standard games from all previous Windows operating systems. This instruction can also be used in Windows 8.1

Return of standard games in Windows 10

In Windows 10, apart from the design and some additional features, nothing has been changed, so the return of standard games is completely identical.

First way

Similar: start the Microsoft Official App Store, search for (Microsoft), select a game to download.

Second way

Download standard games for Windows 10.

Attention: you must have WinRAR archiver installed in advance.

We open the downloaded file with the archiver, start the installation of games, you will see a list of different standard games, select those that you like, select the path for installing games and wait for the process to complete. I advise you to create a folder on your desktop (standard games), and copy shortcuts to launch games there.

We hope that this material was useful for you, and we wish you a pleasant time playing your favorite old toys.

The moment of my long-awaited transition to Windows 8 (in principle, to Windows 8.1 too) coincided with the date of the official distribution of this OS. I eagerly began to study all the nuances and secrets of the updated product, because there was enough visual material for studying. Gradually, having dealt with the software of the new system, more attention began to be paid to a slightly modified appearance of the digital product. At first, the not quite familiar new look of Start was striking, but in general terms, the operating system was quite satisfied. It has an order of magnitude more meaningful convenience than previous versions. But, somehow, I more clearly remember the sharpness of my indignation at the fact that Microsoft developers did not consider it necessary to introduce standard games from Vista and Seven OS into the new product. Very strange, because these toys were a kind of symbol of Windows systems. Who among us has not played spider solitaire during an educational lecture or work? Who hasn't played the exciting Minesweeper that was a hit back in the days of XP. Some even held symbolic sapper championships. It is easy to assume that the games could not be gone forever, they are and can be seen in an updated UI-guise on the Store pages under specific names:

  • Microsoft Minesweeper (Sapper);
  • Microsoft Mahjong (Mahjong);
  • Microsoft Solitaire Collection (Solitaires: solitaire kerchief, spider, solitaire).
Access to them will open immediately after entering the word Microsoft in the search engine.

But, to be frank, not everyone likes the innovative UI interface of the eighth series of Windows. It's good that there were responsible people who did all the work (layout and assembly) to prepare the transition of classic games from 7 to operating systems Windows 8 and 8.1 as well as Windows 10. In addition, the latest version of the assembly can automatically determine the bit depth of your OS, which means that you only need to. Everything is very simple and affordable.

After the installation is completed, a separate category will appear in the list of programs with all the familiar, standard set of games from Microsoft. Actually everything, the installation was successful, you can sit in a comfortable chair and start the wonderful process of the game.

Hello to all office gamers (and not only them, everyone plays spider and scarf)... today I will write about a small misunderstanding called where are the standard games for Windows 8.1 and who dared to remove them from the standard set of programs for Windows. It just so happens that Windows 8 already dominates the market, but it is very disappointing for office workers, mostly accountants - who are very fond of lunchtime. (and not only) playing Spider solitaire or poking at a sapper is not a crime, their work is nervous, and then the evil admin removed all the toys!

It so happened that your angry and bearded gray ox .... your full-time admin is not to blame - it's all Bill Gates (well, not personally) removed from the standard set of programs the usual kerchief and other games. Apparently, the developers considered that these games were morally obsolete for a long time and we should cut into the Witcher and other advanced games, but we will fix it all - we will return the standard games for Windows 8.1 one and all (who's with me?)

Friends! Take note, I have a record about - it is well described there about a similar situation in the previous version of Windows, and it will not hurt to know how to solve this problem ...

We have two simple solutions for this task ... both are correct, but for the first we need a Microsoft account and the presence of the Internet, the second option involves uploading games to the computer by installing a third-party application ... The Internet will only be needed to download the installation file itself, so that both options are viable.

1. Install standard games through the Windows App Store

2. Download games using a third-party application

As you can see, the note does not promise to be huge, and it is not necessary ... the faster you read and understand where and what to get, the faster you can enjoy your favorite card games, so let's look further.

Standard games for Windows 8.1 from the app store

If you think that there are fools in Microsoft and just like that, having nothing to do, they removed all the standard games in Windows 8, then you are deeply mistaken ... the main feature of the G8 is the application store - we can easily return all the games we are interested in from there. We open the "Store" application and write Microsoft there, the following appear in the list:

  1. Microsoft Minesweeper is a sapper familiar to all of us (it was even pulled out separately from all games)
  2. Microsoft Solitaire Collection - and here are various card games like "Spider" or everyone's favorite "Kerchief"
  3. There are a couple more games like Mahjong, which appeared in the seven and Puzzles (where they came from - I honestly don't know)

Select the item you need, wait until the application is downloaded and installed on your computer - the games will appear in the "Games" folder (thanks, Cap) so do not get lost - you will find it without problems!

Unfortunately, the store requires an active Microsoft account and the presence of the Internet at the time of installation - in addition, you are completely dependent on Microsoft servers (if they have maintenance work, it is likely that you will not deliver toys from there)

Install standard Windows 8 games as a separate file

There is a wonderful alternative that will always work - this is to install standard games the old fashioned way, through the usual offline installer. As a bonus for readers, I post directly on my blog (I think the developers will not be offended, it's free), so download to your health - games are great ...

We open the downloaded archive and run the setup program, which will install all the standard games for the new OS from Microsoft Windows 8.1 - we achieved this, right? And here everything is at once, and you don’t need to rummage around on the Internet ... select the installation language and click "OK"

Choose a folder for installation (I can’t fully understand why this item is in the installer, because we ourselves cannot choose the installation path)... and click "Install", stock up on cookies and wait for the installation to complete ...
