Types of cider

Cider is this wonderful fruit drink, given to the world by the French. How many hearts he captured. Cider is loved even by those who are generally indifferent to alcohol.

Classic cider is made from apples, which everyone knows about. Of course, there are also various types: pear, cherry, quince, pomegranate, raspberry, blueberry, as well as various mixed options, each of which is very pleasant and interesting in taste. And yes, they are all real ciders. Not classic, but real.

There is a more serious classification, except for taste. For example, in France, the following types of cider are also distinguished:

  • SIDRE doux is a sweet cider. Very light, fruitiness is very pronounced. But the fortress is small - only 3 degrees.
  • SIDRE demi-sec - semi-dry cider. Sweet, but slightly. Already more balanced than the first option. And a little stronger: 4-5 degrees.
  • SIDRE - just a cider, usually sweet, but not much. Rather, it can be called natural, natural (but you should not assume that the rest of the ciders are unnatural, rather, it is a matter of natural taste). The fortress is usually 5 degrees.
  • SIDRE traditionnel - traditional cider is dry. The character is no longer so accommodating. Perhaps it will appeal to cider connoisseurs, and not just lovers. It is the strongest - more than 5 degrees.

Of course, not only French ciders are divided into sweet, dry, semi-dry and semi-sweet. This classification is inherent in absolutely all ciders, regardless of the place of their production.

Here is what you will not find on every cider:

"Autumn"- this cider is produced at the very beginning of the apple harvest, that is, at the beginning of autumn or at the end of August. It has a short fermentation period and, accordingly, is ready for use in September.

"Pink"- here it is clear that the matter is in color, but it turns out pink cider due to the use of a large number of varieties of apples. Usually sour varieties are combined with sweet ones to get a more balanced drink with a mild taste.

"White"- all in the same collection as pink, but this time the drink is crystal clear (usually cider, as you know, has a golden hue), due to the fact that it is made from three varieties of apples. Its main difference, besides color, is very sharp bubbles.

Monovarietal- everything is simple here, this is cider, which is made from one variety of apples, which is considered the best and is selected especially carefully. This is not the most common type of cider, as it is very difficult to produce a perfectly balanced drink from a single variety of apples.
