Men's style: Denim in the men's wardrobe

This week in our column we will return to the theme of the wardrobe again and talk about denim. Things from this material have been recognized classics for many years and do not lose their relevance in the slightest for almost the entire year. Its history began in the 15th century, when in the French city of Nîmes a dense fabric was produced, from which tent awnings and sails were sewn. She had a natural color of cotton, then in the city of Genoa they began to dye her with indigo dye, at the same time she was called gin. Everything changed in 1850, when Levi Strauss, an immigrant, noticed the material and brought it to America with the aim of creating working clothes for miners and cowboys from it.

Given the specifics of their work, they needed really strong trousers, which he began to make in a workshop open on this occasion. Given that the fabric could withstand even less loads, the workers appreciated the reliability of jeans - they immediately began to be in demand. In 1873 they were patented and put on stream. Over time, the Strauss, who founded the famous Levi's brand, began to have competitors who contributed to their design. So, in 1926, Lee Jeans created a model with a zipper, instead of the classic bolts.

The jeans themselves were truly an ingenious invention, perfectly meeting all the requirements that they were presented with. Almost all the details were carefully thought out and performed a specific function. For example, a small pocket on the right side was used to store nails and nuggets, it also ideally fit a Zippo lighter or, for example, a watch. Copper rivets were installed to reinforce the pockets, which were constantly torn under the weight of gold.

Now, of course, these elements do not make much sense, but initially they were truly grandiose decisions. It is thanks to this combination of factors that they have become more widespread. In the 40s, they began to be actively used by soldiers who wore jeans on leave, which in turn influenced their popularity among the civilian population. Stars such as actor Steve McQueen or Elvis Presley also contributed. In addition, denim jackets and shirts appeared, a variety of jeans began to appear, in the 80s they invented washed denim, and in the 2000s the concept of premium jeans appeared.

Now at least one pair of jeans is in every wardrobe, in recent seasons the role of denim jackets has greatly increased. Denim shorts can be seen on the street on warm summer days, and denim shirts are used in a variety of combinations. Until recently, the combination of a jacket and jeans was considered gaudy, but now these things can always be seen in a single ensemble. Now denim jackets can be easily worn with a nice shirt and tie and look really cool. Denim is worn by everyone, regardless of age, social status and gender, adherents of any subculture and people far from any direction. They are produced by almost all brands, from budget chain retailers to top fashion houses in Europe and America. The praises of this clothing can be sung endlessly, and if your wardrobe does not have denim items, then urgently get it if you want to become a real fashionista.
