Mouton - valuable fur or not?

Is the sheepskin worth the candle?

Mouton (ennobled sheepskin) was invented, according to one version, by specialists from the leather and fur industry in Germany. This type of fur is much cheaper, for example, mink fur, however, a special sheepskin processing technology allows products made from muton to stand on a par with expensive furs - moreover, in almost all characteristics.

The word "mouton" is translated from French as "ram" (and France, by the way, is considered by experts as another possible homeland for this method of dressing fur). But the "ram", i.e. sheepskin for the production of muton, only one type is used. Moreover, animals for the production of refined sheepskin are grown in Australia and New Zealand. The fur of such "mouton" sheep is distinguished by high thermal insulation properties and super strength - this material for fur coats is considered the best in the world. And it is from Australia that skins are brought to Russia for the production of a muton.

The technology for the production of muton products also has a number of features. The two stages of primary preparation of the skin for ordinary "sheepskin coats" (membrane - cleansing from the remnants of animal tissues and dumping - rotation in a vibrating drum for many hours to make it soft) is followed by the third stage necessary for the muton - stretching the skin on a special table. At the same time, leather tissue does not lose strength and elasticity. And the large volume of the area of the skin allows you to manage when sewing with a minimum number of seams, which makes the product more durable and long-lasting. However, the stage of dressing the ennobled sheepskin does not end at this point. In Russia, the skins prepared in this way are treated with a formalin solution so that the hairs become moisture resistant. And only after that, wet snow, temperature changes and other surprises of the Russian winter will not be terrible for Mouton products.

At the same time, it should be noted that the use of formalin at the primary stages of skin processing does not pose a danger to their future customers. The fact is that after this treatment, the skins will undergo special cleaning more than once, during which all chemicals will be removed.

Formalin is used to process sheepskins

A real transformation then takes place with the treated sheepskin: evenly trimmed wool is smoothed out in a special way. After that, only production technologists or other specialists in the fur industry recognize sheepskin in the fur “semi-finished product”.

The possibilities of modern technologies of the fur industry make it possible to dye the muton (whose natural color is not very expressive) in deep bright colors. The color palette is amazing. There is a feeling that each fur coat has its own unique shade. The coloring of the fur occurs after processing it with formalin. Advanced technologies make it possible to make the muton light with the highest density of fur - and therefore more convenient and comfortable to wear.

Beautiful, light and warm

Over time, muton fur coats, which appeared as an alternative to more expensive products, gained great popularity, and in Russia, for example, they occupy a large part of the market. And this is not surprising! Russia is a northern country and in many regions the temperature drops below -30 0С in winter. Taking into account these climatic conditions, as well as the fact that the prices for products from a muton are quite democratic, fur coats made of ennobled sheepskin have rightfully won the love of women of different ages.

Modern muton fur coats are very effective. The soft fur of voluminous fur coats drapes beautifully, and fur coats of feminine silhouettes look very elegant. Chic coats, elegant jackets, strict coats, and comfortable jackets are sewn from a muton. This mother-of-pearl-shiny fur feels like silk and velvet at the same time. The pile of the muton is very dense - individual hairs are not felt. This fur will not roll up and will not lose its attractive appearance even with daily use.

These qualities of the muton (excellent warmth retention, high functionality) and its relatively low cost make this fur popular for sewing children's outerwear. A high-quality muton product does not require a warm lining, it is not blown by the wind. Mouton clothing and hats are not afraid of either wet weather or snowfalls.

Fur coat care and proper storage

If you evaluate the wearability of a muton on a 100-point scale, he will receive 60 points. And the highest position in this scale and, accordingly, 100 points is in the non-plucked otter. A muton product lasts 5 seasons on average, but with proper care and storage conditions - up to 9-10 seasons.

Here are the basic rules for storing a fur product in the warm season, which will allow your fur coat to delight you for many seasons. The product from the muton should be stored in a closet - on wide wooden hangers to avoid deformation of the mezra. The wardrobe should be spacious so that the fur “breathes”, bright sunlight should not fall on it.

By following these rules, you will increase the life of your favorite fur product.

The game is worth the candle!

If we compare all the advantages of the Mouton with such popular furs as mink, arctic fox and otter, it becomes obvious that Mouton clothing is not an alternative to expensive furs. This is a full-fledged representative of the most sought-after share of the fur industry. Mouton is becoming more and more popular from season to season. Products from it are suitable for both men and women. Mouton clothes are worn by children, teenagers, respectable women and men. Mouton became an out-of-age mech. Its durability to wear, ease of care and variety of colors and patterns make this fur truly valuable.
