What to do with a fast heart rate

Rapid pulse is a symptom, which in some cases may indicate the development of serious pathologies. Sometimes this phenomenon is observed under certain physiological conditions. Therefore, treatment with a rapid pulse is not always necessary. Whether therapy is needed is determined after a series of diagnostic examinations.

Evaluate the pulse according to several indicators. Frequency is the number of beats that the heart makes in a minute. When a person is sitting or lying, the indicators may change. Therefore, during the measurement process, you should be in one position. An increase in heart rate can be observed towards the end of the day. If tapping is 10 units higher in the evening or in the morning, this is a variant of the norm.

The heart rate is also taken into account - this is the period of time between beats. If it is different, then the patient develops an arrhythmia.

People of different ages have different heart rates. For children, it is considered normal if the heart beats faster.

In newborns, it can reach 170 beats per minute, and this is not considered a deviation.

Over the years, the rates decrease. Therefore, in adults, the heart rate should be in the range of 60-80 beats per minute. Exceeding the norm is called tachycardia, and lower readings are called bradycardia. In some situations, being rejected shouldn't be a cause for concern.

When an increase in heart rate is constantly observed, it is necessary to undergo examination and treatment.

What causes the problem

An increase in the heart rate can be caused by physiological and pathological factors. In the first case, it is considered normal if the heart begins to beat faster:

  • in the morning after waking up;
  • as a result of a sharp change in body position;
  • under the influence of strong positive or negative emotions;
  • after eating, which is associated with the need to increase blood circulation in the organs of the digestive system.
  • Most people do not even feel when the heartbeat has increased. It should not lead to chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath and other unpleasant symptoms. If there is no discomfort, the problem is not a health hazard.

    Frequent pulse is observed in children and adolescents. If the baby feels good, then everything is fine.

    Idiopathic forms of tachycardia are also observed, in which increased heart rate is associated with the characteristics of the human body. Deviations in such cases are insignificant and do not exceed 15 beats per minute. This condition does not require treatment.

    Also, due to the increase in the load on the body, tachycardia is observed in women in the last stages of pregnancy.

    There are certain factors that make the heart beat faster. It happens:

    • with insomnia or if a person has a nightmare at night;
    • as a result of the use of narcotic substances and aphrodisiacs;
    • in the course of treatment with antidepressants or means for stimulating sexual activity;
    • with constant stress and overwork;
    • if a person abuses alcohol;
    • with excessive body weight;
    • with high blood pressure;
    • with acute respiratory viral infections.

    A rapid pulse may also have pathological causes. Tachycardia is observed:

    1. In feverish states. According to studies, if the body temperature rises by one degree, then the pulse increases by 10 beats.
    2. With violations of the functions of the nervous system.
    3. In pathological endocrine processes.
    4. If poisoning with alcohol or toxins has occurred.
    5. With oncology.
    6. If a person suffers from cachexia or anemia.
    7. With ailments of infectious origin.
    8. With myocardial injury.

    If the heart beats quickly when a person is in a calm state, this indicates a pathological process in the body. Therefore, an examination is necessary.

    Possible pathologies with a rapid pulse in combination with other symptoms

    In addition to a strong pulsation, the patient may suffer from other manifestations of the disease. It all depends on the underlying cause that caused this violation. Tachycardia is a symptom of many diseases. Most often, it manifests itself in heart defects, dysfunctions of nervous regulation and endocrine disorders.

    Tachycardia with defects

    In this situation, a frequent pulse occurs attacks that have clear boundaries. The patient can know exactly the time of the beginning and end of the attack. The heartbeat increases at rest or during stress and physical exertion.

    At the same time, the vital organ is reduced with a frequency of more than two hundred beats. The person also suffers from other symptoms. Patients usually:

    • dizzy;
    • fainting states are observed;
    • buzzing in the ears;
    • it seems that the heart will jump out of the chest or pressing sensations in the chest bother;
    • sweating increases;
    • in some cases, nausea appears.
