Elastic decorative plaster for facades. Elastic plaster: material features and application technology. Indoor use

A modern country house should not only be comfortable for living, but also have an attractive facade. Very often, for finishing the facades of low-rise buildings and their premises, such modern material as decorative plaster.

The advantage of the compositions of this variety is considered primarily that they give a smooth, textured, aesthetically attractive surface. However, conventional decorative plasters made on the basis of gypsum and cement have one serious drawback. Over time, the finishing layer created with their use may begin to crack.

It is easy to avoid such a problem by using for wall decoration country house a special kind of such material is elastic plaster, which has recently appeared on the market.

What does it represent?

Outwardly, this type of plaster after application resembles rubber and envelops the walls of the building like a shell. Such material is supplied to the market, as well as conventional finishing products of this variety, in the form of dry mixes. To prepare the solution, decorative elastic plaster must be diluted with water.

To date, there are several varieties of such material on sale. The type depends on the method of manufacture. If desired, you can purchase plaster:

  • silicone;
  • mineral;
  • silicate.

Also on sale today is elastic acrylic plaster. It is this type of material that is most popular with consumers. With excellent technical and operational qualities, it is somewhat cheaper than other options for similar tools.

Like conventional, elastic plaster is supplied to the market in three types:

  • basic compositions;
  • basic;
  • finishing.

All these types of funds differ mainly in the degree of granularity.

What surfaces can be applied?

One of the absolute advantages of elastic plaster is its excellent adhesive qualities. Just fine, a layer of such a finish will stick to any surface. It is possible to apply decorative plaster of this variety on wood, concrete, metal, brick, blocks.

According to manufacturers, even on the most problematic smooth and dense surface, such a layer can last up to 25 years without the need for adjustment. Compared to conventional plasters, this is, of course, a lot.

The main advantages of the material

The main advantage of elastic plaster, therefore, is that it does not appear chips and cracks under mechanical shock, house movements during shrinkage, etc. Also, the advantages of this material include:

  • environmental cleanliness;
  • the possibility of using both outside the building and inside;
  • drying speed;
  • ease of application.

The undoubted advantage of this new material is the ability to "breathe". Thanks to this, mold never appears on such plaster. Refer to the pluses of this finish and the richness of textures. If desired, to decorate the walls of the house, you can choose an elastic plaster of any texture that is in perfect harmony with the design of the interior or exterior of the building.

It is possible to use such plaster for finishing facades in any regions of Russia. Reviews of elastic plaster are good, including because this type of material is absolutely not afraid of either serious temperature changes or high humidity.

Cons of plaster

There are practically no drawbacks to this material, judging by the reviews of the owners of country houses who have already managed to test it. The only disadvantage of elastic facade plaster is its high price. This material costs an order of magnitude more expensive than similar traditional compositions of this type on gypsum or cement.

Application technology

According to many experts, working with such plaster is even easier than with ordinary plaster. The technology of applying such products is absolutely no different from the method of finishing with traditional materials. The work on the design of facades with elastic plaster consists of several stages:

  • walls are thoroughly cleaned of dirt and dust;
  • polishing of chips and irregularities;
  • the surface is primed to improve adhesive properties;
  • elastic plaster is applied to the walls without the use of beacons;
  • facades are painted in the required color.

Such plaster is applied to the surface with a usually spatula. To seal joints and cracks, ordinary putty or a special sealant can be used.

The technology of applying elastic plaster for interior work is no different from the method of finishing facades. In this case, the walls are also carefully prepared first. Then plaster is applied to them with a spatula.

Facades and interior walls finished with similar means are painted, usually in two layers. The paint, judging by the reviews, lays evenly on elastic plasters and lasts for a long time.

Application nuances

In order to increase the adhesion between the wall and the material, its surface can be sanded before applying the primer and plaster. It is necessary to level the decorative composition with a spatula as carefully as possible. The final layer should be as uniform as possible.

The texture on a layer of elastic plaster in most cases is created by moving the spatula at an angle. In this way, the wall must be passed on final stage.

Specifications

The consumption of elastic plaster is usually, depending on the manufacturer, 1.5-2 kg per 1 m 2. Up to degree 3 at a temperature of 20 ° C, this material dries in most cases in 5-8 hours.

It is possible to work with such plaster from the side of the street only in warm weather. Maximum temperature air when decorating walls with similar compositions is considered +5 ° С. Most often, elastic plasters can be applied on surfaces with a layer up to 5 mm thick. The textures of such material can be very different. But the color of the plaster of this variety is almost always white. That is why at the final stage of finishing facades using such a tool, staining is required.

For the facade, it performs several functions at the same time. First of all, it helps to hide surface irregularities and cracks up to 2 mm, while protecting the application material from aggressive influences. environment. Now there is a wide choice of various plasters on the market, such as: facade plasters, fur coat plasters, karoyed plasters, acrylic plasters, cement and gypsum plasters and putties. The choice of plaster must be approached responsibly and slowly, while deciding on the texture of the plaster, color, composition, method of application. It is also necessary to take into account the degree of exposure to the environment, how often the surface will be cleaned. Flexible ElManto plaster is an ideal option for finishing the facade of your home.

Any modern building materials can be prone to cracking. They appear during transportation, construction, from the impact of the external environment. The most common type of cracking is as a result of subsidence of the building due to subsidence of the foundation. As a rule, these are young houses made of foam blocks, aerated concrete, expanded clay concrete, bricks up to 1-2 years old. Protecting the facade from cracks is the most important task of a good plaster. The coating should protect the facade material from the effects of temperature changes, sunlight, wind and moisture. Flexible plaster is able to perform the above protective and decorative functions of hiding cracks due to building subsidence under its own weight. Applying flexible avoids repeated plastering work.

The main advantages of using EL MANTO flexible polymer plaster are ease of application, elasticity and reliability. Plastering requires minimal skills. The flexible surface covers almost any irregularities, including joints products. The plaster is able to stretch up to 110% after application, hiding cracks after the inevitable subsidence of the building. It has a pronounced protective function against exposure external environment: precipitation, temperature changes, weathering. El Manto perfectly adheres to brick, concrete, cement and even metal surfaces, as well as to mineral wool or polystyrene insulation. It can be used for finishing already plastered surfaces.

Elmanto, knock-o-flex and Palladium plasters are resistant to frequent weather changes and at the same time retain elasticity over a wide temperature range. For example, Elmanto plaster is guaranteed to withstand more than 150 cycles of frost resistance after application. The plaster is waterproof, but it freely passes air. This feature of the plaster does not allow moisture to collect under the surface and thereby prevents the occurrence of mold and fungi.

The basis of flexible elastic plaster is particles-granules of marble chips - corolite, outwardly similar to microscopic polyhedrons. This feature increases the area of contact of the plaster to various materials, while increasing the strength of the plaster layer and the adhesion strength of the plaster to the surface. High hiding power and adhesion is the calling card of Elmanto plaster.

Flexible and inexpensive El Manto plaster, as well as good expensive imported American elastic plaster, can be used for both interior and exterior finishing work. The basis of the plaster is water acrylic + mineral fillers. The plaster is resistant to chemical influences, does not fade in the sun, breathes. Internal work possible due to the absence of odor after drying. The most famous American plasters are stuc-o-flex and Palladium.

Flexible plaster Elmanto does not need special care. If repeated cracks appear on El Manto due to extreme shear or building settlement, unusual harsh conditions, simply reapply El Manto to the cracks. To clean dirt or dust, you can use high-pressure washers such as Karcher under low pressure or just a hose.

Is it worth waiting for the building to shrink for a couple of years? Perform cosmetic repairs during this time, which then will have to be redone with more expensive and desirable interior solutions? These questions are faced by owners of apartments in new buildings or developers when building from scratch in private housing construction.

Decorative wall decoration in such buildings can become covered with a network of cracks or even disperse. Of course, you can wait for reliability. But why delay a good repair when modern elastic plasters are offered on the building materials market. A set of constituent elements provides a reliable polymer coating, without deformation during long-term operation. The plaster composition is used for interior finishing work and is suitable for application to the facades of buildings.

These plasters contain polymer binders and additives. Which allows you to achieve the following effect:

It is plastic, and it is easy and convenient to work with such material. Therefore, an expensive, but practical and technologically advanced material has taken its own niche in construction and deserved love from consumers.

Indoor use

Elastic plaster is suitable for interior wall decoration. She performs thin-layer finishing work: applying a finishing leveling layer for painting or an equivalent replacement of a decorative and textured coating. It allows you to form a variety of structural surfaces, which are distinguished by their strength and durability.

The mineral additive of quartz chips will enhance the decorative effect of the plaster and create a monolithic surface, which is particularly practical.

You can see the method of applying mosaic elastic plaster with your own hands in the video:

On the basis of such plaster, you can create bas-reliefs, moldings, rosettes. You can paint on top of it.

Before painting the surface, use a coloring composition that does not conflict with the base. So, if acrylic is present in the composition, then the paint should be chosen on the same base.

Use on the facade of buildings

On external walls, the elastic mixture adheres tightly to the base and provides reliable protection against all weather conditions. It withstands large temperature fluctuations and exposure to moisture.

Does not increase the load in light insulation systems. With good adhesion to all materials, it is the best choice for closing the thermal insulation of polystyrene foam and the external protection of frame houses.

Such houses are not subjected to ordinary plastering. So, mineral mixtures do not stick to a wooden base and crack. Here, the output is cladding with vinyl panels or an elastic solution. The modern formula provides a crack-resistant coating. When wooden boards play under the influence of temperatures, the plaster stretches and retains its integrity.

Excellent appearance and decorativeness allows you to achieve the technique of applying the mixture in different ways and tools. The use of a trowel or roller will give a different effect and finish pattern.

The process of preparing and applying this solution does not require additional preparation and a high degree of qualification. These tasks can be successfully completed independently.

An elastic plaster mixture has increased strength and reliability and allows you to create on long years great appearance walls, both inside and outside.

Plaster is one of the most common materials for exterior wall decoration.

It is sometimes not so easy to choose: there is a huge amount of it on the construction market. Different manufacturers make plaster according to a certain technology. However, it is customary to divide facade mixtures into categories.

Especially for facades, an elastic plaster has been developed, which is intended for finishing walls from the outside. Such a coating can also be used indoors, but in terms of its properties, this plaster is the most optimal for external design.

The main objective of this coating is to protect the walls of the building, to preserve the properties of the plaster during shrinkage of the walls. The walls of any building are subject to slight shrinkage or deformation due to the influence of external phenomena, as a result of which small cracks appear on the walls. When covered with ordinary plaster, the finish cracks along with the wall.

Elastic plaster, on the other hand, forms a protective film, similar to rubber, which is able to stretch and not deform. The basis of elastic plaster is acrylic resin. Thanks to cement, a stable binding of all elements of the mixture is formed in its composition.

Polymer components serve to preserve the structure of the plaster when the walls are deformed due to the influence of external influences.

In addition, the composition of elastic plaster includes additional elements that give decorativeness, slight relief and additional strength to the finishing base: fibers of natural or artificial origin, marble or natural granite chips, quartz sand.

Elastic plaster

Advantages

The elastic mixture is sold in ready-made consistency, can be produced as a dry water-soluble mixture, is a topcoat that has the following advantages:

  • easy to apply, forming a coating that does not have seams, which has mechanical resistance;
  • resistant to external influences;
  • well closes the cracks formed, while maintaining strength and good adhesion to the wall;
  • has good adhesive properties, which allow you to apply the composition on any surface (concrete, OSB, osb, wood, chipboard);
  • has vapor permeability, which contributes to the creation of a normal microclimate in the room;
  • dries quickly after application(this is especially true when applying the composition in several layers);
  • does not emit toxic elements: environmentally friendly;
  • retains decorative and operational qualities for a long time (more than 10 years);
  • prevents the formation of foci of mold and the growth of moss;
  • suitable for application both on a new building and on an old surface;
  • resistant to temperature extremes: can retain its properties from -50°С to +60°С;
  • fire resistant;
  • It is UV resistant (retains color in the sun).

Elastic plaster is produced in different colors, however, if necessary, it can be painted in any other color.

When choosing a paint for painting elastic plaster, you should choose an acrylic-based composition.

This is necessary so that the polymers contribute to the preservation of the properties of the coating to stretch and narrow.

Flaws

There are no significant drawbacks of this type of plaster mixture: the material meets all the requirements for the preservation of the facade. Elastic plaster is an order of magnitude more expensive than conventional plaster, but in terms of its qualities it significantly exceeds the usual mixture.

Varieties

Specifications

The elastic coating must comply with the requirements in accordance with GOST:

  • linear stretching - +10% per m²;
  • water resistance - 8 g / hour per m²;
  • tensile strength - 7 bar;
  • frost resistance - up to 150 cycles;
  • fire resistance - class "A";
  • storage temperature - from +5°С;
  • service life - more than 25 years (with preservation of properties);
  • salt resistance - up to 300 hours of continuous exposure.

In addition, the elastic coating must have positive adhesive characteristics in relation to the types of surfaces, such as: OSB, foam block, concrete, brick, plasterboard, glass, rubber, metal, wood, LSU, plywood, polyurethane foam, chipboard.

What is the difference between elastic plaster for the facade and other types

The main advantage of rubber plaster is the preservation its properties during shrinkage or deformation of the wall, as well as in the formation of small cracks on the bearing surface.

Ordinary mixtures do not have elasticity, therefore, when the structure of the surface on which they are applied changes, cracks form on ordinary plaster.

Besides, the temperature range that ordinary plaster can withstand is less than that of an elastic structure, especially for negative indicators.

At severe frost there is a possibility of cracking cement-based plaster.

When exposed to ultraviolet rays on the usual composition, some of the properties of the coating are lost. The limited color palette of cement mixtures is one of the indicators by which they lose to elastic counterparts.

An essential indicator of the acrylic mixture is vapor permeability.

Areas of use

Apply elastic plaster can be both outside the room and inside.

Due to its properties to withstand temperature, exposure to moisture, this type of coating can be used to protect against cracking the facade of the building.

Indoors, elastic plaster can be used as a painting, screen painting, wall covering as a decorative design.

The elastic coating performs well in places with difficult operating conditions, as well as in rooms with high humidity: in bathrooms, halls, corridors, flights of stairs.

Surface primer

Despite the fact that the elastic coating has excellent adhesive properties, it is necessary to carry out a number of works to prepare the coating for its application.

First you need to level the wall, remove protrusions from it, if there are pockets of mold - treat them with antiseptic agents, clean the wall of dust and, if any, from the old coating.

NOTE!

If the bases have a porous structure, then they should be treated with a primer twice.

Sometimes the surface requires a triple application of a primer.

The last step before working with elastic plaster is to inspect the surface and determine its verticality. Elastic plaster is applied in a thin layer and is not a mixture that significantly levels the walls. In case of large flaws, a reinforcing mesh should be applied to achieve a flat surface.

Primer

Surface reinforcement

When it becomes necessary to reinforce the wall, after priming it is glued (preferably fiberglass) to the surface with an adhesive solution or fastened with dowels. When applying the mesh, the joints must overlap.

CAREFULLY!

The mesh must not be allowed to sag: for this it must be well stretched.

If sagging appears, it will create gaps between the putty and the wall, which can lead to flaking of the mixture.

When the mesh is firmly fixed, beacons should be set and the first layer of leveling plaster should be applied.. The application should be made with sharp movements (throws of parts of the composition onto the grid) for greater adhesion. After the first layer has dried, apply the second and wait for complete drying.

When the wall is leveled, you should start applying elastic plaster.

Reinforcement

Application of elastic plaster for facades

To calculate the required amount of elastic plaster mixture, it should be borne in mind that the standard material consumption is from 1.7 kg to 3 kg per m² of surface.

If the mixture is dry and intended for mixing with water, then immediately before applying it, the composition should be prepared according to the manufacturer's recommendations indicated on the packaging of the dry material.

To do this, you need a container for putty, cold water and a drill with a mixer nozzle. After complete dissolution of the dry powder, the composition is ready for use.

The mixture must be applied starting from the center of the surface, moving towards the edges so that each portion of the plaster is applied from the wet to the dry part.

The standard application layer should be no more than 5 mm. Manufacturers recommend that the finishing layer be at least 1.3 mm, otherwise it will not meet the required characteristics. If necessary finishing cover the walls twice.

Due to the fact that the elastic plaster dries quickly, its application should be carried out with quick movements.

In this case, it is necessary to level and apply the mixture at the same time, and then immediately clean to give the smoothness of the treated surface. Irregularities and minor defects should also be eliminated, without waiting for drying, with a spatula.

At the final stage, it is possible to paint the surface, or apply a drawing or painting. A variety of patterns are applied using a textured roller. It does not require complete drying of the elastic composition.

Applying the finish

Mixture preparation

Thus, with a huge variety of facade finishing materials based on mixtures, an elastic coating is perhaps the best option: the plaster is durable, resistant to external manifestations, has the property of stretching, while maintaining the appearance. In addition, this type of plaster can be painted, changing the design of the building at your discretion.

In contact with

We are facade plaster manufacturers. Any facade plaster can be applied to the ventilation facade. If we take elastic plaster, it is polymer-mineral plaster with increased crack resistance for exterior and interior work.

Olga, is that you? Hello! =)
As you understand, I received your parcel, thank you.
I like your material - now I test it with various improvised methods. I have several questions for you:
1. Does your company have a technical department or a production department? Please give me the phone number of a person (or invite him here for interrogation with passion =))), who would answer questions about the composition of the filler, vapor permeability, and so on.
2. A question for you, according to the links above under different brands, as far as I understand, the same product is hidden:
- Acrylic decorative plaster "VD-06PT" TU 2316-003-13344853-04
http://www.polmeg.ru/akr215.1.html
- ELASTIC PLASTER POLYMERIC-MINERAL PLASTER
WITH INCREASED CRACK RESISTANCE FOR EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR WORKS

this is actually you: http://www.stena18.ru/product/Dekorativno-otdeloch/Spec/Elastichnaya_shtukat
- Elastic plaster for facades "Acrylite". VD-06PT Production Russia

- Elastic plaster Acrylite VD-AK-215 El
http://www.oliva.ru/catalog.php?binn_rubrik_pl_catelems4=283

Descriptions and markings vary slightly, but I think it's all the same. At least you and Akrylit for sure =))
So who is the manufacturer? Where did this technology come from? According to one of the links it is written about acrylic dispersion from Germany, is it so?
3. Is stucoflex the prototype of your plaster? Do they at least have the same essence?
4. A little worried about the following question: After freezing the sample, the coating becomes brittle (which is probably natural). But with constant transitions from + to -, the linear dimensions of the smallpox will change, and the plaster may burst (if it is at a temperature below zero). In general, the dependence of elasticity on temperature is of interest. A flexible tile, for example, has such an indicator - flexibility on a beam - how the tile bends at -5 and -10 degrees.
5. It is indicated that it is necessary to shelter from precipitation in the first 72 hours. You know, it's not an easy task to fence a canopy over each facade. How critical is it? Will it wash off the coating? It's also water soluble.
6. At the Z-facade it is written: Facade waterproofing coating;

Can be applied to almost any type of surface;

Has a high coefficient of vapor permeability;
How would you find out what this coefficient is.

I like your material, I could even become a type of distributor in our region, but until there is no practice, I will not take responsibility.
Show the practice (only not faceless photos from Samara and Ulyanovsk) that the coating tolerates frost and humidity changes, that moisture does not accumulate in the sippanel or in the frame without a ventilation gap.
If there are or are acceptable problems in the case without a ventilated facade, tell me. You will save many nerves and money, and we will use your material only in ventilation facades.
