What's new in 9.17

Swedish tech tree

The Swedish tech tree is represented by two vehicle branches: tank destroyers and a mixed branch.

Swedish tank destroyers have modest armor, so they rarely "shine" twice in one place. Thanks to their excellent guns and low silhouette, these vehicles are able to sting the enemy painfully and go unnoticed. At levels VIII-X of the Swedish research tree, tank destroyers are available to players, capable of fighting in two modes. Siege mode allows you to concentrate on dealing damage to enemy vehicles. Travel mode is required to change position.

Heavy, medium and light tanks are also available in the new research tree. Medium-tier vehicles have good gun depression angles and can perform various roles in battle. At the last levels, the player has access to EMIL I, EMIL II and Kranvagn . Their guns have good depression angles and magazine loading system.

Premium vehicle changes

Due to numerous requests from players, we have made changes to some premium vehicles. The performance of the FV 4202, STA -2, M 4A 1 Revaloris é, T 26E 4 Super Pershing , WZ -111, L öwe , Panther 8.8, T 34/T34 Black, M 46 Patton KR and 112 has been improved.

The changes also affected heavy French tanks AMX 50 V and AMX 50 120.

Sounds

Some changes have been made to the sound settings of the game: a corresponding option has been added for players who have 5.1/7.1 acoustics installed.
Added sound notification when locking a target with auto-aim.

The option to turn on the microphone is now available in the settings in the "Sound" tab.

New minimaps

HD car models

After reviewing player feedback during the Public Test, we have postponed the changes to the "two and three gauge rules" as well as changes to the ricochet mechanics that were originally planned for version 9.17.

These changes would significantly affect one of the key game mechanics - armor penetration calculation. Therefore, we decided to carefully review and reconfigure the current mechanics. This will take some time, but we want to make sure that our innovations are sufficiently reasonable and effective.

They should harmoniously fit into the gameplay, improving it and increasing the comfort of the game. In the meantime, we are keeping the existing mechanics for all vehicles, including the new Swedish tank destroyers. More information is available in

Coming soon players new patch- 9.20, which means a lot of innovations. Traditionally, before a patch is released, developers launch test server, with which everyone can see and try all the changes without any impact on their own statistics.

The test server is downloaded as a separate client, where, like on your main client, you must enter the data of a valid account, under which you will test the update.

The test version of the game exists so that players can try out a future patch and, if possible, notice all the errors and bugs so that developers can fix them before the patch is released.

How to become a World of Tanks 0.9.20 tester?

Everything is quite simple here - you just need to download the test client installer on the official website of the game or from our website (link at the end of the article), wait for the installation and log in under your name.

By the way, every player who gets on the test server gets to use 20k gold, 100m free xp and silver per account so that everyone can try any tank in the game. After the test server closes, all gold, experience and money will disappear, and the account statistics will remain the same - the test does not affect it at all, it works like a separate game.

What changes will be in the new patch 0.9.20?

The most important update will be a branch of new Swedish tanks: a mixed and full-fledged branch of tank destroyers with unique vehicles at the top levels. Many Tier VIII prem tanks will be upgraded. The rules of three and two gauges will be redone. Eleven tanks will receive new and colorful HD models.

For example, when dealing damage to two vehicles with one shot (or damaging two different vehicles with different shots in a very short period of time), not one tape with the amount of damage and the name of the vehicle (the last one that was damaged) will be displayed, but two different tapes with the display of damage to each car. This logic will be implemented for all combat effectiveness tapes.
      • If the enemy is destroyed, the player does not need to see a tape with the number of "critized" modules of the destroyed vehicle (after the "Destroyed" tape). The display of the "Critical Hit" ribbon in this case will be disabled.

    • Additional information has been added to the settings, explaining the principles of some feedback settings in battle.
    • Added information about taking damage or critical damage:
      • in tapes;
      • to the verbose log.

    • Projectile type has been added to the detailed log. Premium shells will be highlighted in gold. The player will not be able to turn on / off the indication that the projectile was “gold” in the settings at will. The projectile type is not added to the ribbons and indicators of shelling. The projectile type is only displayed in verbose log messages for the following cases:
      • taking damage with a shot;
      • receiving critical damage;
      • receiving armor-blocked damage.
    • Updated verbose log settings:

      • There are no more stronghold plunders, in case of defeat the clan does not lose anything, and the winner's earnings depend on the level of his own stronghold.
      • You no longer need to defend the Stronghold 6 days a week. Battles in the mode are held only at will.
      • Battles in the mode start at a fixed time, the opponent for the attack is selected automatically from those available in the queue.
    • The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the mandatory defense of the Stronghold led to significant changes in the economy of the regime. As a result, the Office, which this moment mainly used by the "top" clans that have earned their authority in battle, would become available to a significantly larger number of clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the game's economy as a whole.
    • To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a system of competitions is introduced - "War Games", where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for prizes in several nominations. The winners will be rewarded with gold, advanced reserves and other rewards.
    • IMPORTANT: War Games will start some time after Update 9.17.1.
    • The battle room, both in sorties and offensives, can be opened up for legionnaires who can join your squad (as in team or company battles).
    • The list of open battle rooms will be available in a special interface to everyone.

    Sound improvements

    • Made the transition to new version Wwise 2016.2.
    • Expanded functionality and support for sound mods (original project with structures, remapping, documentation, compilation of an unlimited number of sounds, etc.).

    Other changes

    • The list of female and male names and surnames of some nations has been expanded.
    • The setting "Show simplified performance characteristics in the Garage" has been removed.
    • Fixed a problem with the lack of accrual of the Kolobanov medal at the end of the battle.
    • Fixed an issue with incorrect calculation of damage based on intelligence data when firing at the moment of detection.
    • The list of Personal Reserves available for purchase in the game client has been updated.

    Patch 9.17.1 is coming out soon - nice buns will be introduced and for me personally, the detailed one is so lacking. Finally, it will be clear which projectile is at you and who is shooting. Next I bring full list Update 9.17.1 changes.

    Research tree changes

    As noted earlier, we plan to make a number of changes to the research tree to better match the current version of the game. Update 9.17.1 will make it easier to switch to researching the latest tiers of vehicles, in particular German, Japanese, and US vehicles. It will also fix some balance issues and add new technology.
    Full list:
    Germany
    Maus will have logical predecessors - extremely similar in gameplay and roles on the battlefield (P) and Mäuschen, which will replace VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A and VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B. at VIII and IX levels. These will be large, heavily armored tanks with mediocre mobility, but good armament and excellent armor. The Maus will experience a significant reload speed, improved gun comfort, and a stronger frontal armor.

    In order not to exclude “sneakers” (VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A and VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B) from the game, we will transfer them to a new branch and put a car on Tier X that will suit their style of play. In terms of gameplay, it will be similar to VK 72.01(K), which could be obtained as a prize on the Global Map.
    As a result of the revision of the vehicle branches, some characteristics of German heavy tanks will change. In turn, some medium tanks of this nation will also be improved. Soon we will publish a full list of balance changes - stay tuned!

    Japan
    The top "Japanese" Type 4 and Type 5 Heavy are rarely seen on the battlefield. With the current performance characteristics settings, they simply do not have enough power and firepower to fight back.

    On the other hand, Tier V-VIII Japanese heavy weapons have very effective high-explosive shells. In order to make the evolution of vehicles more smooth and logical, while maintaining the unique feature of the branch, we will give high-explosive shells and guns to top vehicles as well.

    USA
    The "Americans" T28, T28 Prototype and T95 are no longer enough of their current characteristics of the gun and armor to be effective on the battlefield. They lack speed, and we plan to significantly increase it.

    Vehicle balance changes

    We have carefully analyzed the combat statistics and made a number of changes to improve the combat performance of some tanks. This measure will allow them to confidently resist high-level vehicles and have a positive effect on the game balance:

    T110E5
    The T110E5's commander's cupola was almost impossible to penetrate with standard projectiles, except for a small weak spot. We have changed the armor parameters of the turret and evened out the thickness of the armor. The turret is still perfectly protected, but now it can be penetrated by standard projectiles.

    Grille 15
    The engine power, rear speed, and gun depression angles have been changed so that the Grille 15 can better play the role of a tank destroyer. By reducing the damage per minute value, Grille 15 is now comparable in effectiveness to other vehicles of its tier.
    * T-34-85M
    We have changed the parameters of the gun and armor penetration of the T-34-85M in order to increase the efficiency of the vehicle. After balance changes, the tank turned into a less mobile, but more protected analogue of the T-34-85.
    * Centurion Mk. I
    Centurion Mk. 7/1
    Both "Centurions" have become more mobile. The parameters of their guns have also been improved to secure the place of these vehicles in the ranks of medium tanks.
    * FV4202
    We have increased the FV 4202's top speed to match the speed of the Centurions.

    Damage Bar Improvements

    We continue to add useful elements to the game that were previously available to players in third-party modifications. In this version, a damage received panel will be added to the combat interface. It will display ribbons showing various events: the amount of damage received, the type of shells, critical hits, as well as the name and type of vehicle that caused damage to your vehicle. At the same time, we will be removing feeds that were of little use: the recurring event feeds and messages in the damage panel will now only display the total amount of damage dealt by a series of shots.
    Finally, in version 9.17.1 we will add a new setting that will allow you to adjust the width of the dynamic damage indicators that display the amount of damage received and blocked by your vehicle. These changes will make it easier to assess the constantly changing combat situation and allow you to quickly change the style of play.

    Technique Comparison

    We have studied your requests to expand the list of parameters for comparing vehicles and have added new parameters in version 9.17.1. Players will now be able to add various equipment, crew skills, gear, and camouflage to the comparison.

    Changes to "simplified" performance characteristics

    In the game you have to choose from more than 450 vehicles, so it is very important to provide the most complete information about each vehicle. This applies to both vehicles already purchased and vehicles that the player plans to research and acquire. In Update 9.17.1, we are introducing a display of simplified characteristics, which will give the player much more information when learning vehicles. Equipment that is activated in battle and also affects the combat characteristics of the vehicle (for example, Stereo Tube and Camouflage Net) will be displayed in the usual way. In addition, the player will see the value of bonuses from the installation of certain equipment.

    Also, due to numerous requests, we have replaced the value ranges for "base shell damage" and "base shell penetration" with average values for each parameter. They will be displayed in the Garage and in the vehicle preview mode. The current value ranges will still be displayed in tooltips.

    Finally, more information will be available to players when choosing projectile types. By default, the projectile type will be marked in the tooltip when you hover over it with the mouse, and you will be able to study its characteristics (in comparison with other types) in the tooltip, which will greatly facilitate the choice of the most optimal ammunition for the battle.

    fortified areas

    The format of battles for the Stronghold will be replaced by a new one called "Offensive". It is still a tug-of-war battle series with three lines of defense, but with a number of significant differences:
    There are no more stronghold plunders, in case of defeat the clan does not lose anything, and the winner's earnings depend on the level of his own stronghold.
    You no longer need to defend the Stronghold 6 days a week. Battles in the mode are held only at will.
    The battles start at a fixed time, the opponent for the offensive is selected automatically from those available in the queue.
    The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the mandatory defense of the Stronghold significantly changed the economy of the regime. As a result, the Chancellery, which is currently mainly used by the "top" clans that have earned their authority in battle, would become available to a significantly larger number of clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the game economy as a whole.
    To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a system of competitions is introduced - "War Games", where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for prizes in several nominations. The winners will be rewarded with gold, advanced reserves and other rewards.
    IMPORTANT: War games will start some time after update 9.17.1.

    The battle room, both in sorties and offensives, can be opened up for legionnaires who can join your squad (as in team or company battles). The list of open battle rooms will be available to everyone in a special interface.

    Sounds

    Great news for all fans of non-standard sounds in the game! With update 9.17.1, access to audio files will be open. Now players who have used third-party mods in the past will be able to change any game sound to their liking.
    As for the game itself, in 9.17.1 there will be a transition to the improved Wwise 2016.2.

    Improved Minimaps

    Mini-maps have been redesigned: "Sacred Valley", "Prokhorovka" and "Tank Range" (for the "Combat Training" mode).
