Detailed review with many photos and videos. Long Beach Phi Phi is the best beach on the island! Detailed review with many photos and videos Walking along the road from Bay View Resort

Long Beach (Hat Yao) is one of the best beaches on the island (Phi Phi Don), clean, quiet and well located not far from the tourist center of the island.

Unlike the two central beaches of the island, (Ton Sai) and (Loh Dalum), Long Beach can, without any reservations, be called a first-class beach, which has no obvious disadvantages, but at the same time, there are obvious advantages.

These advantages include: uncrowded, fairly long, magnificent views of the cliffs of Tonsai Bay, fine white sand and crystal pure water, plus, quality coral reef, located a few tens of meters from the beach.

As you might guess, based on the presence of a coral reef, Long Beach is a good place for snorkeling. Snorkeling is especially good at the far end of the beach, near the small island of Hin Phae (Shark point), located less than a hundred meters from the shore, near the edge of the beach. This rocky island, or more correctly, a small rocky plateau, is notable for the fact that next to it there are blacktip reef sharks, reaching a length of a meter, but at the same time absolutely safe for humans. There are so many sharks in this place that local diving and snorkeling centers guarantee a 100% chance of meeting them. But only under one condition: if you use their services;)

Long Beach location. How to get to Long Beach.

Below is a map (Phi Phi) showing the location of Hat Yao Beach (Long Beach).

Click on the preview to see a high-resolution image of the map.

There are two ways to get to Long Beach: either by boat or on foot.

Typically, the cost for one person by boat from Tonsai Beach to Long Beach is 100 baht; in the evening the price usually rises. It should be noted that the price indicated above implies the transportation of several people; the boatman will definitely not be lucky with one passenger for 100 baht.

The walk from the edge of Tonsai Beach to Long Beach is quite simple and takes just over 10 minutes. The time required to walk from the center of Tonsai Village to Long Beach is about half an hour.

Photos of Hat Yao Beach (Long Beach)

Settlement in the Long Beach area

Hotels located in the Long Beach area are noticeably more expensive than hotels located near Tonsai and Lo Dalam beaches. However, in terms of price-quality ratio, they are clearly superior to Tonsai Village hotels. Tonsai Village is a notoriously noisy place and, to put it mildly, not very clean. In comparison, Long Beach looks like a real tropical paradise. It's no surprise that this place is popular and in demand. Hotels in this area are usually sold out several months in advance, and if you want to stay in this particular part of the islands, you need to take care of the hotel in advance.

Reef sharks Hin Phae (Shark point)

There are indeed reef sharks in the Long Beach area. They live next to the small rocky plateau Hin Phae (Shark point), which you see in the photo on the left.

Of all the species of reef sharks, the one that can be found in the Hin Phae area is the blacktip reef shark, so named because of the striking black coloration of the tips of its fins. The characteristic size of these sharks is slightly less than one meter; large individuals sometimes reach one and a half meters in size, but such large sharks are not found in the Long Beach area.

Unlike the leopard shark, which also lives among coral reefs, the blacktip shark looks like a real ruthless predator. And if a leopard shark can, without the risk of making a mistake, be characterized by a Japanese term kawaii, then the blacktip shark, with its predatory nose and angry, cold eyes, is a classic embodiment of the ideas that people usually have about sharks.

However, despite all their predatory appearance, blacktip sharks are absolutely safe for humans. However, the same can be said about all other sharks living in the Andaman Sea.

Long Beach is located in the south of Phi Phi Don island and is the last one that offers views of the neighboring one. This the best place on Phi Phi for those who want to relax in comfort on a clean beach and swim in the clear sea.

Long Beach on the map of Phi Phi

The coast has a well-developed tourist infrastructure with hotels, restaurants, bars and massage parlors. A 20-minute walk takes you to Tonsai Village, where there are many shops, bike rentals, several banks and a police station. On the other hand, in Long Beach the water is not polluted by ferries, speedboats and motor boats. There are hotels on the seashore, behind which the forest begins immediately.

This balance can only be found in Long Beach. On others there are either too many shops, houses and boats to the detriment of cleanliness (Tonsai, Loh Dalum), or, conversely, among the virgin jungle there are only a few hotels, a couple of restaurants and nothing else (Laem Tong, Runtee). And there are generally “wild” beaches, where there are not even hotels (Loh Moo Dee, Monkey Beach).

What to do on the beach?

Long Beach is quite a popular and lively place. Even in low season there are quite a lot of people. There are more sunbathers and swimmers than on any other beach. But this only applies to its western part (if you look), which is closer to Tonsai. In the east it is quite deserted and lovers of a more secluded holiday will like it here. There are sun loungers and parasols everywhere - the approximate price for them is 100 baht.

At the very end of the eastern part you can climb up the stairs and find yourself on observation deck. Unfortunately, a large number of the trees block your view, so you won’t see a panoramic view of the beach, but you will be provided with an excellent view of the sea and the island of Phi Phi Ley. Immediately behind the observation deck there are detached houses. There are so many of them that in the low season (May-October) many are empty.

Kayak rental is available on the coast for 150 baht per hour. You can rent them for a few hours and go around the island. You can also rent a long-tail boat to any beach, but it will cost a lot (on average 400-600 baht, 100 only to Tonsai).

There is a dive center called Long Beach Divers (closer to the eastern part of the beach), which offers trips to the Phi Phi National Marine Sanctuary for 2,500 baht. The tour includes two dives, free equipment, lunch, fruit and water. Additional options include snorkeling, kayaking, volleyball and badminton. There is also a rental of a waterproof video camera for underwater photos and films. It costs 600 baht for 3 hours or 1000 baht for the whole day.

A couple of excursion bureaus offer cruises around the island, to neighboring islands, to nearby resorts (Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Krabi, Lanta), to Bangkok and even to Malaysia and Singapore by bus (only 1300 baht).

Several massage parlors will give you any type of massage (except erotic): body massage (300 baht per hour), foot massage (300 baht), aroma massage (500 baht), massage coconut oil(500), with aloe vera (500). They are open verandas with a thatched roof.

On the coast of Long Beach there are restaurants and bars. There is no nightlife, no noisy discos either (behind them to Loh Dalum beach - about half an hour's walk).

Not far from the eastern end of Long Beach on Phi Phi there is a paved road to Loh Moo Dee Beach. It is located just behind the pool at Phi Phi The Beach Resort. This pool is very clearly visible from the beach and is located about 50 meters from the coast. From Long Beach it is only a 5-7 minute walk (first along a wide asphalt road uphill, and then along a tiny narrow sandy path downhill).

How to get there

1. Book a tour to Phi Phi.

If you bought a tour to Phi Phi with a hotel on Long Beach, then most likely you have a transfer included directly to it (first by ferry to Tonsai Pier, and from there by motorboat or speedboat to the beach). In addition, when booking on your own, some hotels will meet you at and take you to the place for free (you need to check the booking conditions).

2. By water taxi.

From Tonsai by water taxi - motor boat for 100 baht (if you are alone - from 200 baht). After sunset, at 19:00, the cost of the trip doubles. Travel time is 5-7 minutes.

3. Rent a kayak boat.

For lovers active rest- rent a kayak and sail on it (150 baht per hour).

4. Walk from Tonsai Pier along the coast.

Travel time is 20-25 minutes. If at Tonsai Pier your back is to the sea, you should go right. At first, the road will be paved, passing through numerous excursion bureaus, shops and restaurants, then you will get to Tonsai Beach, then another small beach, after which the path becomes sandy and passes through the forest.

Next you will find two more small beaches in the middle of the forest, as well as a fully equipped toilet with shower in the middle of the jungle. The last section of the road is the most difficult - a steep descent to the beach. There are ropes on the sides that you can hold onto so as not to fall. In fact, your path lies through.

5. Walk along the road from Bay View Resort.

Walking distance from Tonsai Beach (it is located 10 minutes to the right of Tonsai Pier). There is a school on the beach, and not far from it there is a hotel - Bay View Resort. A road leads from it deep into the island. You can use it to get to the artificial pond, as well as to Long Beach. It’s difficult to get confused there, because... there is only one road.

Along the way you will come across several construction sites and modest settlements of local residents. Not reaching 100-200 meters from the observation deck, you will see a turn to the right - it will lead you to the western coast of Long Beach (in 10 minutes). From Tonsai Beach it takes about 20 minutes to walk through the mountains and valleys (the path is really not easy - up and down). But you can see a large artificial lake.

6. Walk from Tonsai through the center of the island and the artificial pond.

This path is good if you live at the foot of the road that leads to the main viewing platforms (there is also a boxing ring on the left and a motorbike and ATV rental - the only one on Phi Phi).

Similar to the second path to the main observation deck of Phi Phi, climb along a wide asphalt road to a fork (10-15 minutes). There will be a sign: “If you go to the left, you will get to the observation decks (View Point-1-2-3), if you go to the right, you will get to Long Beach (3 km).” Go right - first up the mountain, and then down the mountain. After about 5 minutes you will see many detached houses on the right.

Continue along the road (there is only one) and after 5 minutes you will see an artificial lake. You go around it to the right. As you go to the end, there is a fork again: straight - to the beaches of Long Beach and Loh Moo Dee, to the right and up - to the observation deck described in the previous paragraph (it is not equipped, there are only huge blue tanks with water and there is almost nothing about this place No one knows).

After walking straight for a few minutes you will see a sign to the left towards Loh Moo Dee beach. You can look there - a great secluded place without hotels (5 minutes walk). If Long Beach is your destination, then Continue straight ahead (and then right) and in 10 minutes you will find yourself exactly on its eastern shore, next to the PP The Beach Resort hotel. The entire journey from Tonsai to Long Beach in this case will take 35-40 minutes.

The last option is the worst, because... You will have to first walk uphill in the heat. In our opinion, it is easier and more convenient to take a water taxi and get to Long Beach in 100 baht and 5 minutes. Although for those who like walking on fresh air Those with good physical fitness will like options 4 to 6 more (and you’ll see a lot of interesting things along the way).

Long Beach Phi Phi(Long Beach) is my favorite beach on Phi Phi Don island. We spent several days on Long Beach: swimming, sunbathing, relaxing 🙂 and today I will tell you about it in detail. Get ready, there are a lot of photos in the article! 🙂

Long Beach on Phi Phi Don Island

Where is and how to get to Long Beach Phi Phi

Long Beach is located in the south of Phi Phi Don island, in the eastern part of Tonsai Bay. The exact location of the beach on the map. You can get to Long Beach both by water and by land:

  • By boat taxi from 100 baht per person (the boatman usually expects at least 4 people, although sometimes he can get two). This price is valid from 9 am to 6 pm. After 18:00 the cost is 150 baht per person, but it is not so easy to find a taxi boat from Tonsai to Long Beach late at night. Travel time 5-7 minutes
  • Kayaking from Tonsai
  • Walk along the path along the sea. First you need to walk along the sea along the Tonsai embankment, through the territory of the Bay View Resort and Arayaburi Resort hotels (by the way, these are good and conveniently located hotels with their own cozy beaches in the bays, a swimming pool and bungalows on the mountain with a gorgeous view of the sea. I recommend considering these hotels as a possible option to stop on Phi Phi), past another interesting hotel Viking Resort, and then go down to Long Beach. At first, the road does not cause any inconvenience, but in the area of the Viking Resort hotel you have to climb along a narrow path through the jungle, first go up and then go down. There are signs everywhere, and at night the path is illuminated, so don’t get lost! In time, such a journey from the center of Tonsai or from the isthmus of the island will take about 30 minutes.
  • Walk through the center of the island. From Tonsai, the isthmus or Lo Dalam beach, you need to go to the side, and then follow the signs to Long Beach Phi Phi. In this case, there will first be a strong climb up the mountain, and then a descent from the mountain. It will take about 40 minutes.

We walked to Long Beach slowly along the sea, and always returned by boat.

The Thai longtail boat is a popular means of transportation in the south of Thailand. From Tonsai to Long Beach 100 baht per person during the day
The path to Long Beach from Tonsai passes through the territory of the Bay View Resort and Arayaburi Resort hotels
The path doesn't seem hard at first
There are signs pointing to Long Beach all along the way.
But in the area of the Viking Resort hotel you have to climb a difficult path through the jungle
Descent to Long Beach
Hurray, so we made it through the jungle and reached Long Beach
And this evening we set sail from the beach by boat

Description of Long Beach Phi Phi

The official name of this beautiful beach is Hat Yao, but the name has long been assigned to it, i.e. long beach (by the way, there is a beach called Long Beach not only on Phi Phi, but also, for example, on the mainland in Krabi, and on. This is the common name of the beach :)).

Long Beach is actually not that long :)
View of the beach from the water

The length of Long Beach Phi Phi is about 800 meters, i.e. the beach is not as long as, for example, but by the standards of the island it is quite large, you can walk along the sea within 5-10 minutes :) The beach strip is quite narrow at high tide, and wide at low tide.

Long Beach at high tide
The beach strip becomes twice as wide at low tide :)

There are several hotels on the shore, and behind the hotels the jungle and mountains begin immediately. Deciduous and coniferous trees grow along the beach, and in some places there are palm trees, but there are much fewer of them than on.

A shady alley along the beach at the Paradise Pearl Bungalow hotel. This is the vegetation there
Thai coniferous trees (I don't remember the name) along the alley on the beach
And here is some palm vegetation :)

From Long Beach there is a direct view of Phi Phi Le Island (on which it is located). Sailing there from Long Beach on an individual boat will cost only 1,500 baht for two for three hours.

View of Phi Phi Le Island
Photo against the backdrop of Phi Phi Le :)

The sand on this beach is actually white, fluffy and very clean, almost like the neighboring one. On the left side of the beach (looking at the sea) the sand is finer and more pleasant to the touch.

Snow-white sand on Long Beach
White sand, turquoise sea... beauty...
Very soft sand on the beach

The sea water is clear, clean and very warm. I don’t really want to get out of such a gorgeous sea onto the shore. The entrance to the water is gentle. During the low season (April to October) there can be strong waves in the sea!

You don’t want to get out of the warm and clean sea
When other Phi Phi beaches are completely calm, there may be waves on Long Beach

Low tides can be felt well on this beach, but despite the fact that at low tide the sea recedes several meters, swimming here is still comfortable; there are no sharp stones or corals at the bottom near the shore.

Not far from the shore there is a coral reef, and on the left side is Shark Point, that is, a place where you can meet reef sharks. We swam to Shark Point during , and also swam several times from Long Beach itself, but we didn’t see any sharks 🙁 They say that to see a shark you need to swim before 9 am or after 5 pm, but we were there during the day.

Not far from the shore there is a coral reef (those dark spots in the water are corals)
And Shark Point, where you can see sharks. We were unlucky with sharks...

Infrastructure and entertainment on Long Beach Phi Phi

There are several hotels on Long Beach, where all the infrastructure is concentrated, where you can buy excursions, book ferry tickets, buy complex tickets to anywhere in Thailand or even to, rent an individual boat for an excursion or trip to Tonsai.

Water activities(well, there are jet skis, bananas, cheesecakes, etc.) on Long Beach, as well as on other Phi Phi beaches, fortunately, there are no. But here you can rent:

  • Kayak – 150 baht per hour, 400 baht for 4 hours and 700 baht for 8 hours
  • Paddle Board – 200 baht per hour
  • Mask and snorkel – 50 baht per day
  • Fins – 50 baht per day
  • GoPro camera (!) – 1000 baht per day

The main activities on Long Beach are kayaking and snorkeling

There are several people working on the beach dive centers.

Every hotel has restaurant, where anyone can have lunch or dinner, but the most tourists are in the Paradise Pearl Bungalow restaurant. There's a mini shop with all sorts of little things, but prices are higher than on the isthmus and in Tonsai, for example, a bottle of beer is 100 baht, 1.5 liters of water is 35 baht.

Despite the fact that each of the five hotels on Long Beach has a restaurant, all tourists prefer the Paradise Pearl Bungalow restaurant. During the lunch rush, you still have to try to find a free table (we didn’t find any)!
But here it’s empty...

Massage Long Beach is also more expensive than in the center of Phi Phi. Prices for massage are in the photo below:

Prices for massage at Paradise Resort Phi Phi
Prices for massage at Phi Phi The Beach Resort

Regarding ATMs, I can say that there are definitely ATM in, maybe in some other hotel there is.

Now about the most important thing for me in a beach holiday: about sunbeds, umbrellas and a fresh shower🙂 There are few sunbeds and umbrellas on Long Beach (for example, in Paradise Pearl Bungalow there are only beach chairs, not sunbeds) and they are intended for hotel guests, so basically all tourists who come or sail to Long Beach to sunbathe sit on the sand on their own a towel and hide from the sun under two trees with spreading crowns. There are only two such large trees with shade in the center of the beach, so the whole crowd is concentrated here. There is a paid shower right there in the center of the beach next to the tree - 1 minute costs 10 baht :)

Beach chairs from Paradise Pearl Bungalow
Sun loungers and umbrellas at the end of the beach from Phi Phi The Beach Resort
All tourists strive to take places under two big trees in the center of the beach
There is a fresh shower: 1 minute - 10 baht!

I do not like beach holiday on a towel under a tree, walking a little forward towards Shark Point, I found a place where you can rent a sunbed and a lounge - this is a hotel. They also have a free shower when you rent a sunbed, and for an additional fee you can use the pool.

  • Rent a sun lounger with an umbrella – 100 baht
  • Pool use - 100 baht for adults
  • Pool use - 50 baht for children

Hurray, we found our place in the sun in the shade on Long Beach. Here, on the sun loungers, we spent our days on Long Beach Phi Phi :)

Hurray, we have an umbrella, a sun lounger and even a shower! 🙂
There is a fresh shower on site
While we were lying there, sunbathing, we watched the ship that sailed to the hotel to pick up tourists

Evening entertainment on Long Beach No! The most that awaits you here in the evening is an expensive dinner accompanied by quiet music in one of the beach restaurants. You have to swim to Tonsai, and then go to the most party beach on the island. But keep in mind that you will either have to walk back to your hotel at night through the jungle or wait for a boat that will agree to take you home to your hotel. You will have to pay at least 200 baht per person for a taxi.

Long Beach Phi Phi: our review

Long Beach Phi Phi is probably not only the best, but also the best beach during our entire trip to the south of Thailand. And in three weeks we visited a lot of beaches: both in and on the Phi Phi Islands, and on the mainland in the province of Krabi, and on the Similan Islands. If we take beauty, convenience and infrastructure, then Long Beach wins in all respects.

Long Beach is the best beach on Phi Phi and one of the best beaches in southern Thailand

At first it seemed to me that Long Beach was crowded with tourists and boats, but we walked a little further towards Shark Point and found a great place with almost no people. If you go to Long Beach from the Viking Resort, then do not stop right at the very beginning of the beach, as most tourists do, but go further - there is much more less people, cleaner sea and finer sand :)

There are really a lot of boats on the beach, but the swimming areas are fenced off
Beautiful boats in the south of Thailand. For some reason, we haven’t seen anything like this on our beloved Samui.
Well, how can you not take a photo on the sea with a beautiful Thai boat :)

If you choose a place for holidays with children on Phi Phi, then Long Beach is the ideal place for this. For all the days that we lived on Phi Phi Don island, we saw children only on Long Beach.

We saw children on Phi Phi only on Long Beach

But for those who love evening and nightlife settle on Long Beach not worth it(or get ready to go to the center of the island every evening), here life stops early, around 9-10 pm everyone is already asleep. Otherwise, I read in one of the reviews that Russian tourists came from Phuket for a couple of days and settled on the Long Beach Phi Phi, and they complained that life here stops early, there is no entertainment in the hotel (!) and everything closes at 9 pm. And for this I gave the hotel a low rating! Yes, everyone is sleeping on Long Beach!!! And there is no entertainment in the hotel, this is not a pioneer camp or an all-inclusive hotel...

Long Beach before sunset

Phi Phi hotels on Long Beach

I’ll say right away that there is no budget accommodation on Long Beach (less than 1,500 baht) during the season! Was earlier cheap hotel Phi Phi Hill on the mountain with beautiful sea views (1200 baht for a wooden house without air conditioning and 1800 baht for a house with air conditioning). Honestly, I really counted on it, I wanted to check in there, but now the hotel has been reconstructed, now it is called and in March the rooms in it cost from 2600 baht.

There used to be an inexpensive hotel on the hillside. The hotel is currently being reconstructed and some of the houses are in dilapidated condition.
The old houses of the Phi Phi Hill Hotel are currently being restored, after the reconstruction the price will be much higher than before

If you want to stay on Long Beach, then be sure to book your hotel in advance. Firstly, it’s more expensive on site than through booking sites, and secondly, in mid-March (and this is no longer the peak season!) we couldn’t find a hotel on Long Beach for the dates we needed, or rather, all the standard rooms we were counting on (up to 2,500 baht per day) were occupied, only rooms from 5,000 baht per day remained free.

Hotels on Long Beach from west to east:

Paradise Pearl Bungalow - great value for money on Long Beach

– nice hotel decorated in blue and white colors

— the hotel has both expensive villas and inexpensive very small houses. There is a swimming pool and sun loungers.

On the left is a row of inexpensive houses. They are not on booking sites!
Phi Phi Long Beach Resort & Villa - inexpensive houses
And here there are villas near the pool, some even with a private pool on the balcony
Beach with sun loungers and umbrellas

— bungalows and villas are located on a hill, where they provide free transportation by car (but sometimes you have to wait so long for a car that it’s easier to walk). The hotel has two swimming pools (adults and children), many sun loungers on the beach.

Phi Phi The Beach Resort - bungalow with a gorgeous view on the hillside

Adult pool near the beach

— a new hotel on the mountain. Important! Climb over 100 steps! But what a view from the room!

Long Beach photo

Well, and another photo of my favorite beach, Long Beach. Without words :)

I always advise choosing and booking in advance. After all, the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand are an extremely popular destination among beach enthusiasts. And if you are vacationing on Phi Phi, which lasts in Krabi from November to March, prices will be significantly higher than in summer or autumn.

Therefore, it is very important to prepare in advance, especially if you are planning to go to Thailand to Phi Phi on your own. This is due not only to the high popularity of these islands among tourists from all over the world, but also to the fact that the owners of resorts and hotels do not bargain winter months, because free seats practically none at this time. And a common practice for Thailand, widespread among independent travelers, is to arrive and find a decent hotel on the spot; on Phi Phi it will only work during the rainy season.

To make it easier for you to choose good accommodation and book a room in advance, I suggest you read my review of the best hotels on Phi Phi, which includes good hotels on party beaches and 5-star hotels in the northern part of the island, where people come for a relaxing holiday.

Phi Phi Islands in Thailand

It would not be superfluous to remind you that Phi Phi Islands is a small archipelago located in the Andaman Sea and part of the Krabi province of Thailand. It consists of several islands - Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Le, Bamboo and Mosquito. Broken on the territory of the islands national park, designed to preserve the unique flora and fauna of Phi Phi.

Interesting fact about the Phi Phi Islands: Famous conservation enthusiast Leonardo DiCaprio, who filmed The Beach on Phi Phi, is trying hard to help preserve his favorite location in its original form. Therefore, the Phi Phi Islands have status and are famous for their exceptionally clean beaches and well-preserved nature.

Visiting the Phi Phi Islands is very easy. To do this, you just need to order there from or from Phuket. Or get there by ferry yourself (see). But staying in a hotel on Phi Phi during your vacation is a truly exclusive adventure. Of course, it is worth mentioning that there are hotels only on one island, on the largest one, which is called Phi Phi Don(which translates to “Big Phi Phi” in Thai). The rest of the islands can also be visited as part of various excursions, including seeing the famous one, which served as a living backdrop for the filming of the famous film “The Beach” about life in Thailand.

Therefore, in this article, when I simply say Phi Phi or “Phi Phi Island,” I will mean exclusively, on which numerous hotels and resorts are built for an unforgettable vacation.

Read also:

As you probably already guessed, hotels on Phi Phi very much, despite the small size of this island, which in its shape is several mountain peaks connected by an isthmus. It is on this isthmus that almost all hotels are concentrated. Moreover, they are sometimes located so close to each other that the passage between them is more reminiscent of narrow streets somewhere in the center of Bangkok. Because of this, some of the cheapest hotel rooms don't even have windows. And therefore, you can only spend the night in such rooms if you have air conditioning.

However, such not very pleasant living conditions in inexpensive hotels on Phi Phi are still very popular among backpackers who have found their paradise on this island. You can easily find these hotels on the website Booking.com, and I won’t consider them at all in my selection. I myself haven’t lived in such rooms for a long time and I won’t advise you either.

It is important to know:

  • In addition to inexpensive hotels for backpackers living and having fun at the main pier on Tonsai Beach and at the opposite Lo Dalam Beach, on the territory of the tropical island of Phi Phi there are many more beaches and cute coves, next to which there are very good hotels with spacious rooms and the opportunity to feel yourself in a tropical paradise, fully relaxed.
  • As I already said, if you are planning a winter vacation, then the best hotels in Phi Phi should be booked in advance through a guarantee best price website Booking.com, where even in high season there are often discounts and low prices, which, of course, you won’t get if you come to the island with the intention of finding a hotel on the spot.
  • It is worth keeping in mind that the mountainous landscape of Phi Phi Island may seem quite difficult to some. After all, someone may not like walking up the hill to their hotel several times a day. So this nuance should be taken into account when choosing a hotel and do not stay far from the beach.

Despite its small size, Phi Phi Island can be roughly divided into three parts:

  1. Party beaches Tonsai And Lo Dalam, located in the central part on the isthmus and at the pier, are best suited for youth recreation and Thai nightlife;
  2. Calm beach Long Beach in the south of the island, where you can find a quiet and cozy family hotel, and, if necessary, quickly reach the shops and bars of Lo Dalam;
  3. Northern Beaches Lo Ba Kao And Laem Tong, isolated and very calm, where it is best to go for those who intend to spend their vacation in silence and not travel anywhere, but only relax in a luxury hotel with its own beach and swimming pool.

The main thing you should know about Tonsai beach to all vacationers that this is the very place where all the boats arriving on Phi Phi Island moor. Therefore, during the day there are always a lot of tourists who come on excursions around national park, and swimming is not very pleasant. This is the main disadvantage of this beach.

And the advantages of Tonsai are that all the infrastructure is concentrated here: shops, bars and inexpensive hotels. In addition, the western and eastern parts of the beach are quite suitable for swimming. This is where I recommend the best hotel in Tonsai:

1. Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort 4*(rating 8.2) is located on the western part of Tonsai on Phi Phi, where the beach is better. By the way, it is cleaned of garbage every day by special workers, so it is quite suitable for relaxation. The hotel fits well into the rock and is a large multi-storey building with a wonderful swimming pool and restaurant. The rooms are incredibly spacious (72 m2) and have their own kitchen. Room price from 99 to 250 dollars for two per day.

2. Another wonderful hotel PP Princess Resort 4*(grade 7.7 ) located on Lo Dalam beach. This is a real island of luxury among a noisy crowd, distinguished by its modern spacious rooms. Everything you need for relaxation is nearby: the beach, bars and discos. The territory of the not very large Princes Resort hotel is quite quiet, but it is better to stay in rooms whose windows and balconies overlook the garden, and not the neighboring hotels. If the local beach is not quite suitable for your holiday, then you can always take a boat to Long Beach or other secluded coves on Phi Phi. Room price is from 95 to 150 dollars for two per day.

Phi Phi hotels on Long Beach

Next I move on to Long Beach on Phi Phi. The best hotel here is Paradise Resort Phi Phi 3*(rating 7.8 ). It has moderate prices ( from $50 for a bungalow up to $130 for a beach villa). The rooms are cozy and clean, although small, but the villas near the beach are quite spacious. The most important thing that absolutely all vacationers at Paradise Resort like is a very beautiful beach with snow-white sand. It’s good that it’s very quiet here in the evenings and at night. And early in the morning, reef sharks swim to the Shark point!

You can get here by boat from Tonsai Pier, or walk along a path through the jungle, which will especially appeal to lovers of adventure and trekking.

Phi Phi hotels on Lo Ba Khao Beach

Another great beach on Phi Phi island in Krabi is called Lo Ba Kao(Lo Ba Kao). It houses a luxury 5-star hotel Phi Phi Island Village Beach(rating 8.5 ) with a swimming pool and private beach. Guests call it the little Maldives. And I have to believe, because here everything is really very similar to
